This course explores why Finland is consistently ranked among the world’s happiest and most successful countries in areas such as education, innovation, sustainability, wellbeing, and human rights. Participants are invited to discover how Finnish values—simplicity, nature connection, trust, equality, and lifelong learning—create a unique foundation for happiness. The course is open to anyone interested in understanding how Finland’s strengths can inspire meaningful, enriching tourist experiences and personal wellbeing.
Course Content
Participants will learn about the principles behind Finnish happiness, such as “Less is More” and “No child left behind.” The course highlights how Finland has become a global example in many fields, and how these insights can be integrated into travel experiences that go beyond typical sightseeing—bringing depth, learning, and emotional richness to visitors.

Professor of Business & Social Entrepreneurship. Expertise in education and happiness tourism, nation-building, social impact in harmony with economic development.
Jenni Meewella
Social scientist, licensed social worker and licensed teacher with expertise in strength-based approach & positive psychology.
Currently pursuing doctoral studies at University of Lapland in the areas of human flourishing and strength-based approach.

- Registration for a short course is binding.
- Cancellation of your course place is free of charge up to 7 days before the course begins.
- Cancellations must be made through the office either by phone or email; notifying the teacher is not sufficient.
- If you fail to cancel in time, the institute will charge the full course fee.
- A PDF invoice for the course fee will be sent to your email before the course begins. If you wish to pay with ePassi, please contact the office.
- Insurance: The folk high school does not insure students, so we recommend that participants arrange their own leisure-time accident insurance.
